If you get errors from the X server, type in
Code:
xorgconfig
and redo the X configuration.
To install the ATI drivers , you will need the driver first. Did you already download it or not? If you did, then then do this as root in the command line:
Code:
rpm -i --force filename.rpm
Be warned that I have read others on here having some slight problems when installing the ATI X.org drivers.
also how do i download that file from the website cause i am really new and dont understand that i have what the file comes out as on XP but that didnt work please help

If you are new, and your Linux is working okay, then I urge you NOT to download and install these new ATI drivers. I've read others complain that it caused some problems. But to answer your question, do this:
yeah at the moment my linux gets to the blue screen with Mandrake on the bottom and then goes no further so at the moment it isnt working well so im hoping this will sort my problem also i can download to my windows hard drive how do i get it to get the file from the windows hard drive

Now I see what you're saying. The ATI file is on your Windows hard drive.
do this in the terminal:
Code:
cd /mnt/windows
BAM! That should be your Windows hard drive right there. Give that a try.
