Thumbs down AGAIN.. error.. basesystem not selected

My message went unanswered. Everyone elses seem to get help with theirs.

WHAT DOES ABOVE SUBJECT MEAN?

I can select all.. or just a few.. neither selections do anyting. As soon as I hit install I get the error. Endless loop.

I even tried the patch crap and didn't work. Don't even get that far.

Oh yeah IN MY 2 DAYS OF TRYING TO FIND ANSWERS.. checked checksum too today. Identical.

ANY WISDOM HERE OR ANYONE THAT HAS A CLUE????????????????

Hope yes otherwise I'm ready to break the freaking disk and stick with damn windows. I hate windows but Linux is getting close to it as a worthless piece of software. More so after I've seen so many forums and problems that users have.

Unhappy...

Your post is incoherent shouting and you don't bother to post your hardware. Gee, I wonder why no one is helping. Settle down and post back with your specific problem; no one here wants to go on a scavanger hunt. Exactly what happens when you try to install, how far do you get, etc. It sounds hardware related so post your hardware and which version of mandrake your trying to install.

Did post my hardware etc. on 01/20 but hardware isn't a issue anymore. No one answered though to that post. From 2 days of searching all over I finally found the problem this morning at 2AM. Still no answer how to fix as it effects Mndrake 9.1 - 9.2 RC1 and RC2 it seems. Link is here:

You would be ticked off and frustrated too after all the stuff I did. I don't consider myself a newbie either since I have been at it since DOS 4.01. Used to install, troubleshoot all kinds of programs back then for BBS's. To have to mess around because they have bugs in their CD's just sucks.

Anyway, hardware related would produce error codes like IO error or memory error etc. but not if install says specific software, package etc. isn't selected or not found. That is either a corrupt file, damaged disc or a bug that could be hardware related but isn't a lot of times. That's been my experience.

So, will have to get new CD's that don't have the bug or D/L them. Either option sucks. SUSE is starting to look good now.

Try downloading knoppix; it's a linux distro on a bootable cd which writes nothing to your hard drive. Knoppix has excellent hardware detection and if you have trouble with knoppix chances are it's a hardware issue. If you like what you see on the cd version, knoppix is installable to your hard drive.

Hmm.. will take a look at it. According to the bug 4495 it seems to be a software bug. Plus, watching inititialization it seemed to detect all hardware without error. Went kinda fast but am sure there was none.

At any rate.. will check into above. Thanks..

I have the same exact issue now with community. I see this post was a while back, has anyone found a fix? Knoppix runs fine on my system, and SuSE 9.0 ran fine for months also.
