99 before boot mandrake 10 official
I had dual boot with win2k and mandrake 10 community. I decided to get the official (which i did).
I removed the community version by removing all partitions neccessary (excludes windows partition), when i booted my computer, LILO still appeared with options to boot mandrake and win2k. Mandrake wouldnt boot obviously.
Anyway, i installed mandrake 10 official without re-installing LILO. It worked fine. Then i did something wrong and messed up system (oops). I uninstalled it, the installed (again). I forgot LILO was still installed (most probably on the MBR, i think). So during this installation, i installed LILO on the / partition. I realized, the computer wouldnt boot from this as it nowhere near the beginning of the hard disk drive.
The 2nd installation (Official) was successful, but now i can't boot the computer. Before LILO is meant to show, the screen displays many "99" 's. The numbers covers half of the screen.
I am pretty clueless as to why this is happening. As far as i am aware it should use the LILO that it was using before (on the MBR). I do believe that LILO has been installed twice, but would it affect the computer in this way? Is there any way to get round it, or to fix it etc?
I really dont want to format hard drive or go anywhere near it unless it is the only thing left to do (please dont suggest this - i will have to re-install windows 2k as well!).
Thx for any help.
