64 or 32 bit version of Mandriva LE


Dear friends

I am waiting to receive the HP zd8000 laptop in a few days. Below is the specs. What version of Mandriva do I buy - x86-64 ??? or 32??

- HP Pavilion zd8000
- Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition with SP2
- Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 520 w/HT Technology, 2.8GHz
- 17.0" WXGA+ BrightView Wide Viewing (1440x900)
- 1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM, 533MHz (2x512MB)
- 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
- DVD+/-RW/R CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer
- 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) X600
- 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM!!
- 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- Microsoft(R) Works/Money

The P4 520 does not support EM64T, and is thus a standard 32 bit processor. x86 is what you want.

That's just a normal 32-bit PC so just the 32-bit version. Like with Windows the 64-bit version is only for 64-bit PCs like those with an AMD64 processor. So if you've got 32-bit Windows you'd be safe in getting 32-bit Linux.
