Okay, this one is driving me nuts, and has been for months. I have tons of old vqf (a failed competitor to mp3, for those who don't know) files, but I can't play them in Mandrake. It worked just fine when I used 9.2.
I've tried installing using evey method I could think of. An old RPM of 0.91 failed (it wasn't for 10.1 anyway). Trying to install from source fails to compile (I've tried both 0.93 and 0.94).
According to the website (
http://www.csn.ul.ie/~mel/projects/linux/vqfplugin/), "[if] you use a recent compiler, download the binary version of the plugin instead". I tried this, but it fails to show up in xmms's input plugins list regardless of whether I stick the .so file in /usr/lib/xmms/Input or in ~/.xmms/Plugins/Input/, and it fails to play vqfs.
Please, somebody, if you can get it working on your machine, let me know how!
Oh, and the obligatory stuff about my setup: I'm using XMMS 1.2.10j_20040302 (but I couldn't get it working in regular 1.2.10 either) in Mandrake 10.1 Official.
