welcome message wrong user

when i logged on my user name on the right of the screen was correct but the welcome back on the left came up with another users name I only noticed this because i had searched this user in the members list so question is.
1. is this a bug or a hack?
2. how do i find out ?

google seached linux questions went to link on home page¨hi mat¨ on the right .clicked forums and yeah there it is again the wrong user
