Using RSS for updates on forum topics?

I am looking for a way to use Google Reader to stay updated for my own topics.

I have used RSS for news before, but I honestly hated it as I subscribed too much too many sites. Visiting the football site manually is much better for me, as I should not be interrupted by RSS updates when I'm working, which did happen and when I watched, I was overloaded with information.

Therefore I have decided RSS for news is nothing for me. I was thinking to use RSS to clean my mailbox from "Somebody has responded on..."-mails and use RSS for this goal.

Can RSS be used to subscribe on topics on linuxquestions.org?

At the moment, RSS is only available for whole forums, not for individual threads.

And I have moved this thread to LQ Suggestions and Feedback.

Are you saying e-mail notification is the only way to be updated in some way for new posts in topics I've started?

No, there's also the "My Posts" results in your "My LQ" navigation section.
