User title preference doesn't stick.

Hi Jeremy,

A few days ago the option appeared to set the preferred user title once you reach 5000 posts. But I do have stumbled upon a glitch/bug....

Once I set my preference (LQ Veteran in my case) it is reset to guru after some time. I've had this happen ever since the option became available and I did not find any pattern that makes this happen.

Can you have a look?

EDIT: Don't know if it will help but it just happened again (somewhere between 21:10 and 21:38 CEST).

Switched it back to LQ Veteran at 21:46 CEST.

Same for me; I changed from Guru to "LQ 5k Club"; it worked immediately but did not stick.

Hi,

Just changed mine to LQ Addict. Let's see if it sticks or not.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi,

Must have done something wrong apparently. I changed it through the CP and checked a thread where I posted and it showed LQ Addict correctly. Then I posted here and it shows Guru. Just changed it before this post so let's see again.

EDIT: Nope, whatever I try setting in my LQ UserCP, when I check threads where I posted it shows correctly but apparently posting a new post resets it.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi,

I see that EricTRA already found what I just discovered: Replying to a post resets the user preference.

I tested posting yesterday in the test thread, that did not reset it, answering a post just now did.

EDIT: Confirmed. I reset the user preference to LQ Veteran, answered a post and it was reset to guru.

Hi druuna,

Yep, discovered that strange behavior this morning bright and early I can reset it as much as I want, the user title only stays for as long as I don't post anything. It shows in my CP what selection I made but after posting it gets reset to Guru.

Kind regards,

Eric

Thanks for the bug report. I've made a change that should address this issue. If it doesn't, let me know.

Posting a reply triggered it before, lets see what happens....

And I'm back to being a guru......

I changed it back to LQ Veteran a minite ago, guess I'll be back to guru after this post

I'll leave the status as-is after this post.

---------- Post added 19th Jun 2011 at 18:18 ----------

And it sticks this time

Thanks Jeremy!

Closing this one. If anyone still has problems, just post and I'll re-open it.

OT:

Did I just stumble upon a nice new feature? Looking at post #10 my 2 separate posts are neatly merged into one. Nice!

Re-opened this thread, see post #12

Not sure if I should make a new thread or post it here, but when I change the user title and press the "Save Changes" button, I get this error:

Quote:
A required field called username is missing or has an invalid value.
EDIT: druuna posted while I was writing this.

And the post merging feature was hare for a long time, I think it was to make accidental double-posts more easily fixable.

MTK358, can you reproduce that issue now?

The "Post added" feature has been around for a while now. It will also detect exact duplicate posts and remove them.

Yes. It still doesn't work, showing exactly the same error page.
