The forums have been upgraded!

The long awaited forum upgraded has been completed (Just in time for the 1 year birthday!). Please report ALL bugs using this thread. I will be tweaking things for the next few days, but everything should be functional now. Let me know what you think!

Talking C'grats!

Congratulations Jeremy!
The overhaul went good I think, no probs seen & the graphics are definately cleaner this way. I like it.

Only thing I'm not gonna be using is javascript functions so maybe you want to add an extra parsing routine to cover it as a failsafe (max chars).

[edit1]
Just noticed we've got tread ratings to play with now.. whoohoo! :-]

Rendering under Opera

Since the upgrade Opera on Windows and X fails to render the top of the table that lists the posts in a specific forum. The main page that lists all the forums is fine, as is everthing else that I've seen.

Apart from the above the new site seems great. If you don't get the same results yourself give me a shout and I'll investigate things at my end.

cheers

Jamie...

Let me know how it looks now jharris. The forums will probably change a good deal over the next few days as I get things how I like them. After that I will integrate the quiz, the FAQ system, and update the homepage (As always other ideas are welcome). I try to keep things as simple as I can, but cross browser compatibility is tough. I use netscape in Linux which seems to render things differently that any other browser. I even check things under windows using IE If anyone notices anything strange in the browser they are using this is the thread to let me know (Please include the OS you are using too). Thanks.

One question

What are the icons to the very left when you are in a forum and looking at all the threads that are in the forum?

Some threads have an envelope that is open others have an envelope that is closed?

Ah ha, I think I have just worked out what they are, they show whether you have read that thread or not right?

I didn't notice them in the old forums were they there? Maybe I have been looking around a bit more at the new forum since the upgrade.

I don't like the generic icons for search, members, home etc in the top right corner.

I prefered the different pictures, much quicker to work out which one you want when your eyes are getting blurry 2 in the morning.

Search seems a bit hit and miss, I was trying to locate some of my old posts RE SAMBA (while fixing machine again!), and results came up as no posts. Search on my name worked fine though.
