The email address you entered is already in use. If you have forgotten your password,

How am I supposed to change my email ID? When I change it, it says:
Quote:
The email address you entered is already in use. If you have forgotten your password, please click here.
Default mail id in the text box there is not the same as new one.

Have you tried clicking on the link to reset the password for the new e-mail just to rule that out?

That link leads me to this:
Quote:
If you have forgotten your username or password, you can request to have your username emailed to you and to reset your password. When you fill in your registered email address, you will be sent instructions on how to reset your password.
Whats the point? and I remember I get the LQ bulletin on other mail id which I want to set, that means it is somewhere there! how to find that?

Sorry for not clarifying... What I'm trying to say is that this e-mail you are trying to use maybe already registered, and possibly you can send the password reset to the new account to see if I am or am not correct.

Oh.... I think I see what you are trying to do now Anisha. Do you have an actual account for the other email? Or do you just get the LQ bulletins to it?

I am not able to understand whatever you are saying:
I have a mail id in which I get my personal mails + LQ bulletin.
The above said mail id is which I want to set as my default mail id on LQ since my PM Inbox is nearly full.

Your best bet is to email Jeremy and let him know the changes you need making. I have the feeling that the email address is linked to your account by some sort of vB magic and Jeremy needs to change it elsewhere.

I may also be wrong, but since Jeremy is the BDFL he has the powah!

Thanks, but creating a thread in LqS&F is same as mailing the root? Isn't it?

It is, but since you'll need to let Jeremy know which email address will replace the existing one, you'll probably want to keep that off the open forums. Also, by their nature, Jeremy is likely to check his email more than the forums.

Okay, but I thought if he tells me the correct option settings, I'll do it myself!

An email address can only be associated with a single LQ account. If you're getting that error, the email address in question is already associated with an account. If you don't know the username of that account, the password reset request will include that information.

New question:
I don't know yet how fast will I receive LQ mails on gmail, so if I feel its going on slow, what am I supposed to
revert it back?
