When you login, there is a check box to keep you logged in or not.

If we are looking at the same thing it says "remember me". That just means it stores a cookie so you don't have to keep logging in every time you connect. I do not think it is related to getting randomly disconnected.

The best advice I can give is that you should try and find some kind of a pattern--eg does it happen randomly or at fixed intervals? Is it correlated to anything else you are doing on the coumputer? ...etc.

In the past I have found that, unless "Remember me" is checked off, LQ will log you out at random intervals. When using public computers (where I don't have it set to keep me logged in), I will almost always be logged out between the time I click "Post Reply" and actually finish composing and posting the reply.

I always copy the text of the post before submitting it for that very reason.

Hmmmm--to be honest, I've never actually tried this. I wonder why it does this?

It's the same everywhere-- session duration.

P.S.
For example, Yahoo mail screenshot @ img337.imageshack.us/img337/3874/yahoomailsession.png

P.P.S.
There IS a vBulletin setting (admin panel only?), to control user session length.

When you check the "Remember Me" box, we use a cookie to keep you logged in and to automatically log you in on future visits. When you don't check the "Remember Me" box, we keep track of your session on the server side (which will not properly be able to track you under certain conditions, which will result in a log out) and you will not automatically be logged in on future visits.
