Problem displaying % character in posts and within code tags

Just want to report that I have had difficulty displaying the % character in normal posts and also within [code][/code] tags.
The display can be made to work within normal posts when [noparse][/noparse] tags are used, but this technique does not work within [code][/code] tags.
For example - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...8/#post5343293

Let me try:
Code:
%this seems to work %
How about this % does it work? Yes, that works for me also.
How odd.

I would think I was mad if grail had not reported a similar problem in the same thread.
Testing here.
Code:
% does this work % ?
Edit - Not initially. But after retyping and checking it seems OK

I just tried in the other thread and found an issue, so I'll try to repeat it here, the issue appears to be that brace, percentage, brace doesn't come out and you get:
Code:
This () instead.
But this: (%) works.

This gets weirder. Now I can edit the post that I was having problems with. Perhaps logging out and logging back in has made a difference.
This is probably PEBCAK. My apologies for the noise.

I think there is an issue here -- when I type () in code tags the % vanishes. There may be other things going on but that I can replicate, like this:
Code:
(%)
OK, now that works.
Perhaps we're both doing something wrong?

For what it is worth, I also noted that the % character disappeared when I added parantheses () to the line containing a % character.

Edit-
And I just edited a line containing the % symbol, and then the % symbol disappeared.

Some similes use the '%' character.

Also I created a bug report.

Just got this in a quick edit of this post. A percent on a line I didn't edit got eaten. I tried to put it back with another quick edit and it got eaten again, and the % was also eaten from the Reason for Editing field. After trying again with the advanced edit it worked.

Is this issue reproducible on CQ or AQ?

Typing pct once:
Typing pct twice: %%
But I swear that I had this problem ~2 weeks ago - had to type it twice in a row to make it show.

---------- Post added 24-04-15 at 23:26 ----------

Ah, look there! the pct-char vanished! Did not vanish in "Go advanced"-mode!

The problem still exits: code-mode loses the first 'percent':
Code:
first %second %third
