FWIW, this wasn't a "hack" of any kind. When the No option was tied to negative rep, we made it so that only members with > 150 posts could use it. When we removed the negative rep, we removed this limitation but never re-enabled the No option in the UI. We've done so now.

Hmm...seems that I've collected a few hits on the 'total idiot' button. I'm 95% sure where I got one, and thats what I get for talking politics, but the other one....errr....no idea how I got it.

There should be a way for the poster to see where they have gotten negative rep from, even if its hidden from other users.

I dont think that posts in the 'general' area of the forum should be able to be rated, either positive or negative.
