Next - Previous Page Buttons / Search this Thread Button

Two suggestions in one thread :

1.
When a longish thread covers several or even many pages one can jump to the First / Last page and the numbered pages. The numbers are really quite small. I suggesst to insert a Next Page Button - Previous Page Button, so the layout would look like this:

<First> ... <Previous> 45678 <Next> ... <Last>

The bigger buttons for the words "Previous" and "Next" should be easier to hit for lazy people like me .

2.
Sometimes one wants to find a specific post in a long thread. It would be nice to have an option to narrow the search to this one thread with a "Search this Thread" Button, which also should allow to search for keywords or authors or a combination of both.

Both suggestions are certainly not must-haves but might be a nice enhancement (at least for me ).

1) This is completely different in the upcoming upgrade.
2) We currently have this. It's in the lower right hand corner of every thread

Uuaarghhhh. You are right, and I'll heap ashed on my ashamed self .

On the other hand I think it is a nice example for a real good site with chances for improvement in usability ... how many times is it now that I suggested something which is there long since but which I simply overlooked?

There seems to be a lot of this happening. Would it be beneficial to move the "Forum Jump," "Rate this thread," and "Searth this thread" options to above the Similar Threads (just under the quick reply) this way they're more noticeable (possibly a suggestion for the upgrade)?

Well, in my opinion that's certainly worth a try. Jeremy?

@Jeremy I just tried the search within the tread, searched for my own nick, result:

"LinuxQuestions.org Message
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. " Hmmm.

Any other search (e.g. for "previous", "next", "Hmmm",...) now runs into a time-out. Again hmmm.

The upcoming code upgrade changes the layout significantly as far as many of these things are concerned - stay tuned.
