New Forum: Offtopic/Rants/Trolls

I would like to suggest that a new forum be created in the "Forum" group. The following are some suggestions I think might work.

This forum could contain all the offtopic Linux/rants/trolling posts made under the guise of legitimate posts. Like all Internet forums, some users take the troll bait and waste time answering questions that, for the topic starter, have no answer. If the thread remains in one of the on-topic forums, it tends to garner more attention that it deserves.

It would be nice if the users could self moderate (think slashdot) the posts and, after reaching a certain offtopic/rant/troll threshold, have the posts automatically moved (not linked) into the new forum. I have no idea if the BB is capable of this, so maybe have the moderators just use their best judgement. The new forum would not allow a thread to be created, but it would allow replies.

Some examples of threads that I think should belong in the new forum:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=102689
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=102684
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=102622
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=99496
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=103028

I think Linux Questions is, by far, the most useful Linux forum on the net, so I wouldn't want this enacted if people think it would hurt the quality of the site.

I vote no as a forum like that would only entice or encourage trolls, rants and other topics that are only to waste space and bandwidth.

We do our best to point out the trolls and the majority of the time we or they will be closed.

The majority of those threads are necessarily trolls, they were just frustrated users/members that are trying to accomplish or use Linux.

Regards.
