I love LQ.Ppl here are very helpfull and supportive.I like the classification of forums. It doesnt confuse newbies and one can easily decide where to ask help.
Only problem is that website is too bandwidth-eating.Even when i disable images it eats up my valuable bandwidth furiously.
Plzzzzzz make LQ lighter!

The number of images on the site is almost nil, we put most CSS in a single file so it's cached, we don't use any rich media and we support gzip if your browser does. I'm not sure how much lighter we can make things.
Yes,u might be correct.But all's heavy when u have a quota of mere 500mb!
Posting a message,is one place which is bit heavier than it should be.
Of course, its a suggestion not the complaint!

I'd have to agree.. 500MB a month? Perhaps you just need to browse using links or lynx and upgrade your plan. I could go thru 500MB a day if I just left my gmail account logged in as it refreshes the page every 5 seconds or so....
I feel his pain. I have a 40GB monthly limit, I usually cut it fine but don't go over, this month I went over with about 10 days to go and I've been throttled to 64K ever since
Most ISPs will tell you as part of your plan. I understand that a lot of major ISPs overseas don't have hard limits as such since they figure the average user won't clock up too much and for those that do, they get polite but firm emails suggesting they upgrade their plan. Australia is a tad behind in the telecommunication world unfortunately which is why our internet can be average at times. The problem stems from one telco owning all copper lines in the country and not wanting to share :/
Yes!I use dataone is India. It gives about 500mb for 250Rs.
I don't think my parents will allow me to upgrade as i am always hooked to my pc.I think my unlimited dial-up was much better.

I dont pay!I am student..when i will earn I probably want UNLIMITED.I dont like limitations.I am used to unlimited dial-up plan which was quite fast.

And it is not 500 MB, but 400 MB per month at 256 kbps for Rs.250 (about US$6). Bandwidth is extremely costly in India - a 1 Mbps line with 20GB monthly data transfer costs Rs.9000 (US$216)!
To give you guys an idea, compare this with a 300 ml. coke bottle, which costs Rs.10 in India.
