maybe it has something to do with your end maybe ?
i know the site is fast on my end ...

but the fact is it may or may not be the site, so did you try troubleshooting your end, maybe a bad network cable, excess collisions in your network (if you have one), etc ...

I dunno what to say. Now it's loading like I'm on a T1. I did nothing, it just got better all by itself... OK I think I figured it out, I was getting too many LQ e-mails, removing susbscribed threads I think has solved it. OK, not sure on that either, now it looks like a really f (oops) -well some sort of nodes issue that didn't lag my other browser - e-mail - chat client... talk about weird!

FWIW - I've been accessing LQ pretty frequently over the past few days and have not noticed any performance problems whatsoever. Perhaps it was a local or isolated condition in your area??? -- J.W.

When I am at work during the day I notice that LQO is very slow.

And it's not us, because I'm on 4 T1 Lines when at work.

So....I just figured it was waiting on an ad server or something.

It has been doing this for me for about 3 weeks now. It takes about 10 seconds to get a page loaded. Now while that sounds like not that much time.....when you're on 4 T1's it's a long time.

It used to take about 1 second or less.

Peace,
Whitehat

At work I have no problems, its almost instant load times.

At home it seems to be even faster on my cable modem.

I can assure its not LQ.org or its connection or servers, but it might not be necessarily your connection either.. it could be any of the routes and hops it takes for you to get to LQ when loading, etc.

Cheers.

If anyone notices a performance problem over a long period of time feel free to contact me with the appropriate info (traceroute, times, etc) and I will look into it.

virtually useless, can barely see the site. only this site all others are fast nothing helps but waiting 25 - 30 minutes.... is this an indication that performance improves after some cookie loading? Just a guess since I delete history and cache each time I close my browser.

Well, I don't have any stats or data, but LQ, compared to most other sites I visit, takes a little longer to complete a page. All the little widgets, like buttons and smilies, slowly but surely appear on the page while I watch the bottom status bar on Mozilla say a lot of "waitings" and "connectings".

So, I was curious if LQ was starting to bog down as well and was in need of some upgrading, what with 100,000 members and growing.

So, I came to this forum and discovered this thread with the same question.

My connection is a lowly 512k DSL, but I don't usually have to wait and watch on other sites.

My cache is set to be compared 'every time I load a page', but that doesn't seem to affect the loading of other sites. It could be that other sites simply don't have as many widgets to draw every time the cache is checked. I'll change that setting and see what happens.

Note: It's not so slow as to be really annoying, but it is a little distracting.

Funny you say this cause LQ seems faster than other sites for me..

Just all depends on where your at, connection type, routed from and thru, etc.

As always if you have problems I need details. We need to narrow down what and where the slowness is if we want to fix it. It should be noted that I am working on getting some hardware upgrades for the site which should be ready soon.

OK, I changed my cache option -
Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network:

from
Every time I view the page
to
When the page is out of date

Seems to have eliminated all the buttons and smilies being redrawn every time I loaded a page.

I would prefer 'Every time I view the page." Don't want to miss anything!

For those of you that were having intermittent issues with the image server, let me know if the problem has been resolved.
