I have a question which I think I already know the answer to. Does affero.net choose the available prizes or does linuxquestions.org or do you guys work together on that?

Congrats shak!

The contest is sponsored by Affero and they choose/award the prizes (although we have also had LQ contests in which we awarded the prize).

What the heck is affero?

Why would I want to click on a link and visit it?

What do they do with your information if you 'win' some prize?

How is it connected to linuxquestions?

thanks...

Uh... I must be dense. All I see there is a link back to this thread. Reading through here, looks like you can win a book for some reason.

I was just curious because I don't normally click on stuff that I don't know about. And I am currently happy that my info isn't widely out there and I don't get spammed, etc...

The user cp button is at the top of the page, the one on the top left. It stands for User's control panel and it is where you set your sig, home page, etc. It also describes the awards and how to participate.

Yeah, I know about the 'user cp', I just didn't see that tiny little link for 'What is Affero?' down there at the bottom.

thanks....

from their page What is Affero?
So maybe you are wondering "what the heck is this Affero page I just landed on?" _The owner of this page has signed up with Affero and created this personal web page so that those they help out can have a way to thank him/her. You may says THANKS on this page with a rating/comment or even a monetary donation. __

The Affero Reputation System tracks all interactions in the system and allows anyone to see who has helped out and who has taken the time to say "thanks" with affero._ This public user history is accessible from each users' affero personal rate/donate page by clicking on their username. _
