It surprised me that there wasn't a section here for audio-related banter. Perhaps that niche is too small, but I figured it couldn't hurt to raise the question.
No sure what you might have in mind here, but I do have substantial mid-fi music system that I use regularly, mostly for classical music, though I have CDs from many categories. So far I haven't bothered much with mp3 files.
If you mean listing to music on a computer, see my blog entry:
If you are thinking about voice interaction with a computer, my wife just got an iMac with macOS High Sierra, and the Siri thing works really well. I haven't tried to make out with Siri (yet ), but she is pretty good at helping with technical questions.
Given LQ's primary purpose, which is to answer users' questions about how to use Linux, I'm inclined to think that most discussions about audio would fit in either the Linux Software or the Linux General forums.
But, if there is sufficient demand for a separate Linux Audio forum, I would see it as a subforum to the Software forum.
The niche is not so small when you think of all the "Sound Don't Work" threads. The problem I see with putting it in Software > Audio is that a lot of audio problems "could" potentially be hardware problems, unless proved otherwise.
Here's what comes to mind, immediately: recording, midi interactions, playback, JACK, audio interface compatibility, real-time kernels(?), purpose built distributions for audio and visual work.
flshope's blog question seems a bit more about hardware, but, I'm a sucker for slightly off-topic posts, too.
I've witnessed passionate LQ posts about audio hardware (and software). I just don't know if any of those folks are interested in a more specific forum for their audio-related ventures.
...
Really, what lead to this thread is that I rediscovered that long ago I had Great Plans to make some original music and when I turned to LQ I found that there wasn't a forum I could wander for ideas. I'm aware that I can search LQ, but it leaves something to be desired when I don't know what I'm searching for yet.
Distribution: Currently: OpenMandriva. Previously: openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

Wouldn't that mean a "Multimedia" forum? I agree with frankbell, if there is enough demand for it, the best place for it would probably be the Linux - Software forum (and I agree with the rest of what Frank said as well).
Although that said, I'm not personally that fussed one way or the other about it.

Thanks for the feedback. I think most audio-related posts would be well suited in either Linux - Software or Linux - Hardware, depending on the issue (and Linux - Desktop is also a fallback). Creating new fora is always a balance, but we tend to err on the side of not creating unless there is sufficient demand or reason to warrant it.
I think that the existence of such a forum would be extremely harmful to Linux as a whole, because it would create the impression that the audio issues that Linux was infamous for were not solved over a decade ago.
I'm wondering if someone could please post any reference threads about these topics.
Not ones citing that they can't get VLC to run, they don't where to download ffmpeg, or that they have no sound because it's muted. I have seen many like those.
I believe the intent was to have a forum specifically for media concentrated discussions, like music editing, producing, etc.
Going back to Myk267's post, it may be a small niche.
Distribution: Mainly Devuan, antiX, & Void, with Tiny Core, Fatdog, & BSD thrown in.

Not talking about sound issues, we're talking about audio, music production, manipulation, using midi controllers, etc.
