Including Yellow Dog Linux Somewhere in the Forum
i've been wasting hours of my life this last week trying to get my ydl6.1 installation to work like it should on my PS3. during this time i spent hours on numerous websites, blogs, discussions boards, forums, and whatever else u can name. then it hit me, why didn't i find much information about this on linuxquestions.org. ydl 6.1 is a legit and its applications in ppc and especially the ps3 should certainly be noteworthy. so why no talk of it? anyhow just something i was wondering...love this site and the help i get.
I am almost in the same exact boat as you bro, I am very much a linux newbie, But I did manage to install YDL 6.0 on my PS3, I do have ubunto installed on my flash drive that's bootbtable...so I think that's a major step
Now my problem...I can't get my Bluetooth media Keyboard to work, now I have read several forums, but they all seem to say different stuff.
Like I said before, take it easy on me guys, I'm new here

lol...yea..i think i feel ur pain man. I admit i'm a bit of a newb to some forms of linux, but i've been dual boating it on my lappy for some time now (ubuntu 8.10 64bit/WxpPro) and actually favour linux, simply for ease of use plus the fun of really computing, so when i found out there was linux for the ps3 i had to find out more...upgraded the HD and have since backed up all my files to my ps3 through ydl6.1 as alternate pc (tried ubuntu but finally gave up). it has taken some forum reading to get some of the media to work, but there is help out there and the hardest battle is getting the fullscreen/overscan issues sorted out (still have yet to tackle the bluetooth issue)...however, glad to see your post, hope we can get a serious YDLforum somewhere on here soon. i'd sure appreciate it :-) peace and happy computing!
Hey Gharrrrr, I think at the very least we should stay in touch, that bluetooth thing is driving me insane...I sent a friend request so maybe if you find out something new for ydl you or I can keep up to date.
You might want to update the 250,000 member # -- "250,000 (388,471 as 2009-01-25) ...". Possibly add a link a to http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/, where I found the current membership, & maybe a link to a page the gives a good general description of LQ. Give the potential sub-forum requestor some ideas to pass along to the distro maker.
I haven't re-read that post for ages! The aim of the post was to cut down on the number of requests - they are all, largely, identical apart from the distro name. I think that the number of users is still good, maybe when we hit 500,000 members it will be a time to update it - saying "..over 250,000 members..." has more impact IMO than the exact number.
I don't know how useful the sticky has been over the last couple of years as there's no way to measure the number of threads that don't occur, but I'm happy to note that it's still relevant in it's original form.
