The original problematic poll is still hidden, though I can see the results when I go to the direct poll url here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...20#post2109620

For the short term, that will be the expected outcome. On March 6th I'll flip things back.

So I still can't get to my poll on http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?t=409945?
I'm still getting the same thing. And the link you posted before gets me to a result, but it is not my poll.
Is there a link to mine?

Thats my question too. What is my poll id for this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?t=409945??

Any body know?

I'm glad you got your poll results, exit3219, but my original question that I started this thread with still stands: How do I access my poll results????

There is a link in the lower right hand of every poll that says "View Poll Results".

No, there is not. As I have stated repeatedly, all that is there is:
Code:
Poll: What video card/chipset do you use for your linux box(es)?
Thanks for Voting
Thank you for Voting on this poll. The results will be announced shortly!
The above is IT

Really

Truly

I am not making this up

How do I access this poll?

When you haven't voted on the poll, you can view results, but when you have voted, the poll results are apparent immediately, except when it has been hidden, like with the MCA's.

Jeremy, perhaps you could have a look with an underpriv'd account? Because you can see the poll results can't you?

Cwwilson- there is no need to get hysterical, calm down. We know there is a problem, and the admin's are working on it. You will be able to view the results, eventually. What's the rush?

thanks again jeremy for all your hard work with LQ (and to the other guys who work just as hard but less publically.)

Definately thanks to Jeremy.

And I'm not "hysterical".

I'm just still waiting on an answer to my original post.

The question is: "How do you access a poll on your thread?"

I haven't had an answer yet.

I have posted the problem.

I have posted the results of all that has been asked of me.

I have not received an answer to my original question.

I just thought it would be something simple, like a link in a side bar.

But I guess it's too complicated for that.

Sorry that I bothered everybody with such a simple question.

I just figured that if you start a poll, you SHOULD be allowed the results of that poll. Seems logical to me. But I guess that that would make too much sense to the original designers/programmers of this BBS forum.

I know it's not you Jeremy.

I just want SOME kind of answer, either "Do this", "Goto this link"(Like was done with another poster in this thread, which was nice of you, but why can't the same be done for me?), or "You can't"

And if I can't, how about deleting the thread/poll, and I'll start over again?

What ever you do, don't start again. Let me spell it out for you:

1) when you haven't voted on the poll, you can click on "view poll results" at the bottom right of the poll.

2) NORMALLY when you have voted in the poll, instead of seeing the bulleted options for which you can vote, you will see a nice bar chart with the results so far.

3) it appears that it is messed up right now.

So, as soon as the bug is ironed out, you will be able to see the poll results.

Sorry I said you were hysterical. That was out of line.

I repeat though- this looks like a system wide bug, not a problem with your particular question. Do NOT double post. Looks like the same thing will happen again.

I don't want to double post. That is the reason why I said
Quote:

And if it is system wide, how did the other person on this post poll work?

Jeremy came up with a poll number, and boom, it worked.

Possible resolutions:

1. How about a poll number for mine?

2. Delete the entire thread/poll, and I'll start over.

3. Some kind of idea of when I'll be able to see the poll.

I have not been able to see it since the thread began on 1-31, which is WAY before the MCA deals started.

All I want is a DEFINATE answers, no "Maybe in..." or "Could be...", or "The problem seems to..."

Yes or no is more what I'm looking for, or a resolution from the 3 items above.

I do understand/sympathize with the current issue of the polls being frozen.

Just thought of something. I know it's impossible, 'specially since everything *nix is perfect, but....But since my issue actually came from before the polls were done like that, do you think it may be a (GASP!!!) Bug in the forum programming? Silly me for thinking that a perfect program was not made. Whip me with a wet noodle for even SUGGESTING that the original program has a FLAW. (LMAO over here)

Just looking for an answer, not more maybes....

The how about being civil and not sarcastic about it? It generally yields better results when you're not arrogant. That said, here is your definite answer:

I think that's pretty exact - not exactly any fuzzy logic at work here. Is it really that hard to comprehend?
Just in case it's still too difficult: everything should be returned to normal on 03/06. jeremy is a busy person, so if your request for a direct URL to your poll isn't granted right away, it's likely because there are more pressing issues.

1. Read all the other posts first before commenting on what I'm asking. I am very aware of ALL the previous links that were posted by Jeremy.

2. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ts&pollid=1055 and the poll it brings up is, and I know that you already know this, having read all the previous posts in this thread, NOT MY POLL. That is the other persons poll, not mine, the original poster of this thread.

3. I'm not arrogant. I am just getting tired of all the "answers" that I'm getting that A: Have NOTHING to do with my post/poll, and B: Don't answer the question that I started this thread with.

4. The issue started (as you already know by reading the previous posts) on JANUARY 31. That was BEFORE the MCA was started. So obviously, there is something else that is wrong with the forum, not just the MCA deal. It had just became more widespread after all the poll results were turned off by accident.

5. I was not being sarcastic (much anyways.) I was trying to point out, in a humorous way, that there may be a hitherto unknown bug in the forum software. That happens. Lighten up. Laugh a little, and relax. It's not the end of the world

So, to sum it all up as succinctly as possible: I would like to get to my poll by a possible route like the other poster got. If that is not possible, then if, after March 6th, it comes to be that I still can't access the results of the poll, I would like to request that the poll/thread be deleted so I can start it again. Also, if it comes to that point, then Jeremy may also want to report a bug in the software to the developers that there is a problem with accessing poll results.

That's all I have to say in the matter.
