Fixed font/inline code

Is there a way to do inline code with a fixed font? For instance, that first line has "[font=courier]inline code[/font]" as per the vB Code examples, but it doesn't show in my browser (seamonkey 1.1.4; javascript disabled). I can see monospace fonts generally, though, such as in the various textedit boxes or block-level [code]...[/code].

Sometimes I want to markup individual words or characters and don't want a block element like [code]...[/code]. I was just using color in my last post, but that's lame. I suppose bold would work, but seems kinda shout-y. Just an [icode]inline code[/icode] element that made the font monospace and a point larger or smaller would be cool. Is there such a thing that I'm missing?

If I understand what you are trying to accomplish, the example you gave worked in both Firefox and Seamonkey for me.

And Konqueror 3.3.2 & Opera 9.01 for me; although w/ such a short piece of monospace, it didn't stand out well at all.

Maybe adding a mildly contrasting color would help:
inlineinline codecode
inline inline code code
inline inline code code
inline inline code code -- color only

Also, it helps a lot to put at least 1 space at each end of the inline code:
[font=courier] inline code [/font], not
[font=courier]inline code[/font]

Okay, it is indeed a problem with my browser, but perhaps also a problem with the code. I'd forgotten I had disabled 'Allow documents to use other fonts' [than my specified] because everybody seems to love Helvetica and it looks like crap on my system. If I re-eanble that, *all* the fonts look like crap, but I can barely distinguish the 'courier' from the 'helvetica' (or Verdana or Arial or whatever it wants to be). What I don't understand is that I can disable the 'other fonts' thing, and specify that *every* font except sans-serif is 'Courier' and the Courier still won't show. (If I set sans-serif to 'Courier' *everything* turns to Courier.) So I don't understand why my browser seems to make no distinction between Courier and Verdana unless I let documents use their own fonts. Yet the edit box (which is apparently supposed to be Verdana or Tahoma) can and does show as a monospace font.

But I guess that's a problem with me and my browser and our fonts.

--Yeah, I put some more fonts on and, while I still have to allow documents to use their own fonts and don't like the looks of them, I can stand them, and can distinguish monspace/sans-serif. Sorry for the noise.

--Edit #2: Even better is to use userContent.css, which can be much finer-grained than the 'allow/disallow' junk. I used that to kill the blink/flash crap and then forgot about it.
