I've been working on a new thread and would like to know if there is an option for saving these?
What I do now is periodically copy what I have written so to gedit and save to a file. If there's not a save option could that be added? I'd suggest it go down with the "Submit New Thread" "Preview Post" buttons below the edit box.
I moved your thread to LQ Suggestions and Feedback. The danger of this is that we end up with a load of half finished posts sitting around on the database. For especially long threads, your method of writing in a text editor is the best idea.
My answer would be: "Don't write long threads." You will get much better help with a short, carefully-worded question. If you do need some longer stuff, it may be better to use an attachment.
Code can be cut and pasted, but be sure to use [code] tags

bubuntu,
This isn't something we currently plan to add to LQ, but in the end future features are highly dependent on member feedback. In the meantime, periodically saving locally is always an option. Thanks for the feedback.
open another tab short term
copy and paste to a text editor long term
this web site is huge in terms of storage space
it would be a waste of resources to store things
that most likely will never be used

Very good point. After 2 pages of detail I lost track of what I wanted to know and I expect it was confusing also. I will say that in the process of explaining the background of the problem, reviewing what I had tried and doing some more research I pretty much solved the problem.
I'll call this solved. I don't see an option for this either. Might be a good feature also.

mjolnir I find the notes feature in Opera very useful for threads and or posts. It is also makes very quick work of inserting multiple quotes.
I'll give it a whorl. I just love Linux because I'll bet I already have Opera or it will take me 2 minutes to find it for free.
