Anyone use rss notifications to answer new threads?


In terms of real-time web, I am looking for (simple) solution to show a notification on xbuntu when a new thread is posted on LQ
anyone uses this?

You mean like an RSS feed reader separate from your browser?

Not reader but notifier. Something that notify on xfce desktop (for few seconds) and with possibility to open link in browser (with clicking on notification)

Are you interested in learning scripting? There isn't any applications that I know of, but you could probably hack something together.

There are a lot of threads posted on LQ though! Your screen might be flooded with notifications.

notifications that disapear like notify-send..


"gmail notifier" gave me the idea and is very close, so maybe i will try to mod it sometime..
