Audio and Video player application (both categories) as it is both a audio and video player.

SMPlayer.

I do know a lot of people use it as a DAW.

I would suggest Devuan Stable for server distribution of the year. It supplies Debian's tools, but without systemd. This is what I now use for my desktop OS.

Looked but couldn't find "DVD-Player" for Linux or "Xplayer" on Wikipedia. Did find this about Kodi, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodi_(software)

Of the MPlayer front ends I've use Smplayer is the best in my opinion. Some people prefer Mpv.

Xplayer is one of Linux Mint's X-Apps.
