Posting this from Lynx

OK for all those that don't know you can use a text base browser to get your downloads when something goes wrong with mozilla or any GUI client, is pretty easy to use, just have to get use to it.

It's just fun. Not terribly useful (IMHO) if nice browsers like Firebird or Opera (etc.) work fine, it's just cool to use Lynx every once in awhile

lynx is useful if you need to repair something in console non-X mode and suddenly need to refer to something via google.

I agree...I have used it many times while setting up my web server. It doesn't have X installed at all.

Great for internet access from CLI. Perhaps you are having trouble configuring Xwindows on your new install. Perhaps you like the snappiness while reading text sites.
I used it once when there was a problem with a "rogue" ad here at LQ that would freeze the page. I finally checked the site with links and found what everyone else was doing to deal with the problem.
I prefer "links" to "lynx" but both work.
Well worth "getting used to" for the times you may need them.

I use Galeon on my box. Find it good - the mozila rendering engine in a fast interface.
