I also have a N707...the thing I like about it is that it has a microphone input. With just a small condenser mic, I can record in high quality. I'm a musician (barbershop quartet), and I need this ability to record rehearsals.

In comparison, no other model of minidisc recorder has that capability (except a new version they just put out, which also finally allows you to easily upload it to computer, or so I've heard) and no mp3 player has that capability.

If you just want to listen to music, get an mp3 player...no moving parts (less likely to break) and no changing disks.

Still trying to use it with Linux...I hate the OpenMG copy protection. It keeps me from accessing my music in ways protected by fair use (although the recording industry is trying to get that whole concept thrown out now).
