I joined this group with some early questions that you all took the time to answer and I just wanted to let you know the end result of my install of Mandrake Linux. I started with the 10.0 and upgrade to 10.1. Well My wife after watching me run it for a while took the jump and asked that I install it on her box. This after I configured Samba and was able to mount her directories.
Long story short we home school three children and one sister in law :-(, we had a windows network. I kept telling her we needed to go to Linux but she had worked hard to learn windows and was a bit scared of linux. Today she called to let me know that while I was working she installed the final childs box with Mandrake. I did the first one with her watching and taking notes. The second one she did with lots of phones calls to me. Then she up and did the final two and I didn't know she was going to do them! LOL
We now have six networked Linuix boxes and are FINALLY windows free LOL
Thanks goes to the good folks here. As I learn more I will try to help and respond to other FNG's here.
well done to u...plus u should be able to provide some help to the forum in the networking department...and even more well done to your wife!!! girl power :-)
