A very small but meaninful success.......


My wife, after almost 6 months of me pleading, nay, BEGGING her to stop just holding in the power button when she wants to shutdown Linux and boot into windows has finally learned to use the shutdown -r now command as root.

Saints be praised... there is a god.

hrhr i still try to get some family members to do this they keep shutting down hard by just holding down power or by pulling out the cable ...

Lucky me. LILO frightens most of my people away.

If that doesn't do it, the plain text user name and password prompt shows 'em who's boss.

I sometimes forget to mention that XP is installed on my machine. People usually don't complain. But I boot XP as soon as they start moaning unreasonably...
