Installation instructions should have come with the Oracle software. You should also be able to find information at the following page.

MS Asking for Free Support???

If you are a Systems Engineer for MS, have Uncle Bill pay for some support for you like we would have to if we were using some of his junky overpriced software.

Hey richdude,

redhat9, is that a conscious choice? It must be as old as XP, which is an eternity in the Linux world. RedHat started releasing RedHat Enterprise Linux when they abandoned the Redhat series and they are now at number 5 - just to give you an idea how really old it is. Of course, RHEL is a commercial operating system but if you would like a free equivalent, you should try Fedora 7 (very much an experimental preview of the next RHEL) or CentOS (an RHEL clone). You will find it a lot easier to find documentation and applications for those than for RedHat 9.

bin files are usually installed from the command line like this:
su -
(root password)
chmod +x (bin file)
./(bin file)

Welcome to LQ, richdude4real

As it has been already written in this thread, consider switching to a newer distro, like RHEL or Fedora, if you do not have a *very* good reason to stay with RH9. Also, installing Oracle can be painful, so follow the instructions closely.
