Hi. Jumped in at the deep end of linux pool.glub glub

and no Windows to fall back on.
My transfer to linuxworld has begun, with mandriva 2009.0, kde4, I want to use native mailserver etc., but for the moment, I think my first aim is
to find forums that explain the simplest things (like 'how do you download programs from those sites where everything's in code, and where does it land if you do, and what do you do with it then etc etc!!) And what do these hundred strange words and numbers mean in all the "answers" I see in forums. ok, fora.
and how to do installs properly, etc which I think this site might be good for.
So anyway, from the deep end hello, and nice pool!

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of experienced swimmers and lifesavers here who will not let you get drowned.

Btw, with Mandriva 2009 KDE4, you may not have very nice trip. Its buggy and had caused headaches to lot. New version is 2009.1 (or Mandriva Spring). Lot of people (including me )have positive opinion about it. Try to use it.

Thumbs up

Thanks saivin, I've got the 2009 Spring now, and it looks better; just about to test a few things like playing music etc,
