hello from melbourne australia

hi i am "almost" a linux user, have tried some "live" disks and one temp install on my windows machine.. am keen to go for a dual core 64bit linux box soon, once ams drop their prices, i do 24 hrs a day times 2 windows machines on various health research projects so will prob use next machine for that as well. Human Protewome Project, World Community Grid, fight aids@home, folding@home and other things to help human health.

yea i use my machine for folding at home.

However the software isnt optimised for multiprocessor systems.
it only uses 1

my solution :)

#!/bin/bash
cd /home/foldingroot/
./FAH502-Linux.exe&
cd /home/folding/
sudo -u carl0ski ./FAH502-Linux.exe&

run it twice in different users:P

PS i hope your only running one of those CPU donation programs on each CPU.
as you want to maximise what is calculated as fast as possible and sent.

hi thanx for comment, i have done FAH, mainly when grid.org / ud was down so as not to waste cpu cycles in the quest for betterment of human health, then i got a nig sad about some "re-runs" on UD project so switched to WCG , i am not totally commited to one particular project, foladin@home does some great stuff( with help from people like yourself) whoever has the the best dual use solution will win my cpu cycles.. i have tried a bunch and tend to have a few favourites.. the push to linux for me is not to get away from windows but to get an extra machine , sort of 2 if i can go dual core(?)mainly to do this distrib stuff, i will try both fah and wcg and /or both on a "dually" once i get one.. keep up the good work work in the health care sector
my so called "you - r - elle" LOL primtive simple workaround, even dummies like me can still put that in !!! cant put url in till 5 posts, well we shall seea about that, not quite the "open" source idea i had previoulsy heard, ces't la vie..(doh) /users.bigpond.net.au/peter.veitch/ my home page for what little it's worth ciao, the lack of 64bit distros is annoying , grrrrrr, even my isp (telstra) wont help, ie they have a nice bunch of downloadable files but the dvd size ones seem to be beyond them, oh well maybe i will by a web soucred one for about 15$ with post and handling,, have downloaded a small iso for 64bit ubuntu, wil try it 1st, i have some nice dvd's cover disks with suse and others but they are 386 versions and i am keen to go dual which i guess implies 64bit, might as well ciao

I obviously use Mandriva 2006 X86-64 and bought it but i started with Freeedition
http://wwwnew.mandriva.com/en/downloads/mirrors/2006iso

But Suse 10.0 x86-64 is nice with beautiful & fresh desktop environment.

Both Detect SMP systems straight away and all my hardware worked & are fast!! :)
