Hi
I had many problems with dbus. The source I downloaded did not compile, so I downloaded from Linux packages:

dbus-0.60-i486-2sdd.tgz

Then I had several other changes to make:

-I discovered that dbus assumed the user to be 'messagebus'. So either you need to add this user, or modify the user in the following file to what you choose:

/etc/dbus-1/session.conf

-Change the owner/group on /var/run/dbus to the new user because it needs write permission.

-Configure to run dbus-daemon from /etc/rc.d/rc.local since it is not automatically set up to run with following line:

/etc/rc.d/rc.messagebus start

I am also using Slack11.

Hi liutabme!

For some reason, I did not have this issue. Perhaps it is because I start the bluez service as root during system initialization? At any rate, thanks for the tip. I'm sure there will be someone else who runs into the same issue, and now they have a solution.

Thanks again!

Hi drkstr

I also started bluez as root, so it's not that.

I thought the issues I outlined might help with glomph's problems with dbus.

I have bluetooth working in slackware 12.2, only thing is how to make the internet work over bluetooth in slackware (on another PC)! All the instructions I can find reference gentoo or ubuntu and not slackware, so most configuration files and commands are different x.x .
