Hi,
I have a Redhat 7.1 machine which I want to log my Dlink Wireless Access Point (WAP).
I can receive the alerts from the WAP without trouble, they appear in the /var/log/messages file. e.g.:
Oct 8 17:12:12 192.168.0.50 AP mode Read. Channel 6 etc.....
The problem is, I want to be able to log the WAP to a separate file eg. /var/log/dlink_wap, but I cant. I have read about local1-7 being for outside devices but it doesn't work. I even tried naming 192.168.0.50 local2 in my /etc/hosts file, but this didn't work.
What am I missing??? Please help!
Here is my syslog.conf file as it stands at the moment:
