I am a linux newbie and have been trying to get a proxim 8420-wd working in the monitor mode. this card runs fine with a wlag49 driver installed in pcmcia-cs-3.2.7 (located in /usr/src)
i have kismet-feb.04.01 also installed in /usr/src
problem comes in when i run kismet. i get the following message:

No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.

FATAL: Failed to retrieve list of private ioctls 95:Operation not supported

when i tried using iwpriv eth1 1 6
i get the message : no private ioctls

can anybody help me with this. i have no clue as to what the problem/its solution is.
I am working on a deadline here and need to have this tool up and running by this weekend.
any help would be deeply appreciated
