Ndiswrapper says good, but firefox wont.

hi!
I have basicly spend all my day to figure out this wireless networking thing.
I've brainstormed google, and that way leads me to the end of ndiswrapper.sourceforge.org-guide. "Ndiswrapper -l" writes:

bcmwl5 driver present, hardware present

Which means that my hardware should work, but it wont turn the lights on
My iwconfig writes the signal and all that stuff. which also is a sign that my hardware comunicate with the debian system.

lspci writes:
0000:06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)

This is sign number three.^^

dmesg writes:
wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
ndiswrapper: using irq 177
wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device 00:11:50:3a:82:af using driver bcmwl5
wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP
ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,07/17/2003, 3.30.15.0) added

Four signs that it should work.

My router uses WEP, but evry time i write "iwconfig wlan0 key xxxxx" it input it, and then its gone. when i write "iwconfig wlan0 essid default" there still stands "off/any" can anyone see the error????

Thanks to those who can actually help me with my projekt.

If the lights aren't on it doesn't work I guess. Which version of ndiswrapper are you using? Have you tried removing the kernel module with "ndiswrapper -r ndiswrapper" and then inserting it again. If that fails reinstall ndiswrapper (or a newer version if you use the old one) Could be there's a problem with your card. I read about it here and it looks like the latest release candidate could work.

Hi jm0!
I've got exactly the same problem with the Dell Wireless 1350 802.11b/g which uses bcm4306 chip.
ndiswrapper has installed fine, but I can't change essid and 'iwlist wlan0 scan' gives me 'No scan results'.. some folks say if you can't change the essid you're using the wrong driver, but I've tried several now, none worked, also the reported ones at the ndiswrapper list..
if anybody has any clue about this, let us now..

If you know the ESSID you may try changing it without scanning and then enter a network even if the scan doesn't report any network.

If your using an encryption key make sure thats right. Also, did u Enable DHCP Broadcasting on the wlan card? I had the same problem until i enabled that and it started working. Run netcardconfig in the terminal as root, and say yes to Use DHCP Broadcasting.

do a "dhcpcd wlan0"
The lights on my card do not come on until I do that or "ifconfig wlan0 up" Also did you modprobe ndiswrapper? It just seems like you need to bring the card up.
