Cisco AIR-LCM352

From what I have read, this card's firmware will have to be downgraded to work properely with kismet.

Is there a way to accomplish this in linux, or will I have to find someone with a M$ laptop?

Hi.

There is a utility which can do this on Linux - have a look here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/...bd57.shtml#qa1

In order to download the software, you'll need a login for Cisco.

I only managed to get the Cisco utility to work once, but that was enough to downgrade the firmware.

Is the utility the "acu"?

anyway, I installed the driver, and utilities from cisco, then skidded the driver. I did this in my 2.4.26 kernel, and when my card arrive's, I'll be using it in my 2.6.7.

I am under the impression that my airo_cs in my 2.6.7 kernel will support monitor mode. Do you know if that is true?

Hi.

Yes the ACU is the utility.

The 2.6 kernel-tree triver can indeed do monitor mode - It works very nicely with Kismet on my ageing Thinkpad.

back again with card working, but not with kismet.

I have the acu utility working fine, and it state's my firmware version is 5.30.17

Should I have to downgrade, and if so, where can I find an older version. All I see on ciscos site is newer version's.

Hi again.

Yes you'll have to downgrade. I'm using 4.25.23.

Cisco has all the firmware versions on this page:
http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tableb...t_firmware_350
but they're all bundled as Windows .exe files. Apparently you should be able to unzip them "using an unzip utility", so you might be able to do this on Linux.

well I got the card to work with kismet after all.

kernel 2.6.7 drivers I have to:

Code:
iwconfig eth0 mode Monitor
kernel 2.4.26 with patched driver from kismet site work's on it's own.

I downgraded the firmware just to see if it made a difference, but it didn't seem to, so I flashed it back.

the firmware exe's, I just renamed to .zip, and they extracted as an .img

I'm having a blast with Kismet.

thank's for all your help, been another fine learning experience.
