/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox-cmd: Missing command

I have Vmware Workstation 8.0.2 running in Windows 7 x64. I am running Cent Os 5.8 as my guest os. I have installed vmware tools and after the install it says:
Quote:
You can now run VMware Tools by invoking "/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox-cmd" from the
command line or by invoking "/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox" from the command line
during an X server session.
When I execute /usr/bin/vmware-toolbox it says:
Quote:
/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox-cmd: Missing command
After installing CentOS I run yum update and reboot since the kernel is updated. Then I run:
yum install -y kernel-headers-$(uname -r) kernel-devel-$(uname -r) gcc44 gcc44-c++ make

Then I run:
cd tmp/ && mkdir /mnt/cdrom && mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
tar zxpf /mnt/cdrom/VMwareTools-8.8.2-590212.tar.gz
cd vmware-tools-distrib/
./vmware-install.pl

Of course the lats question it asks after entering ./vmware-install.pl is
Quote:
Before running VMware Tools for the first time, you need to configure it by
invoking the following command: "/usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl". Do you want
this program to invoke the command for you now? [yes]
Of course I hit enter(yes), and continue to hit enter for all the on screen prompts.

Am I missing something? Why wont vmware tools execute?
