suse linux on WinXP host, can't access outside local network
Hi all, first time post.
I have 2 suse linux Virtual Machines on a WinXP host, using VMware 5.5.
I can ping other workstations on my local network but cannot get out to the Internet.
If I use the Analogx Proxy (which I have used for years) I can surf the Internet but I can't ping anything. It comes back 'unknown host'. From what I have been reading in my searches, is that most proxies will let you have access to websites, but does not allow you to ping.
Any ideas on what configuration I need to get Internet access from the linux guests?
I am going thru the Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop self-study training and I need to have access outside my local network.
I am using Cricket Broadband as my Internet connection.
10.0.0.254 is IP address of SUSE Linux Server for the training class.
10.0.0.10 is IP address of SUSE Linux Desktop for the training class.
Hostname: da10 Domain Name: digitalairlines.com
Device=eth0
HWaddr=00:0c:29:69:e3:2f
The Cricket DNS servers are 172.28.221.53 and 172.28.221.54, which never change.
Windows IP address 10.0.0.77
Normally the Gateway is blank, but I put in the IP address of the Cricket modem, 10.102.161.166, which changes each time I connect.
digitalairlines.com is the domain for the training class.
