thanks bud! upon google i found some mention to OSE version not being able to up hotplug devices to the guest. so, rather than set up with OSE from the repo I went with the current from virtualbox.org. I am installing it now and will post how things go with examples of how i got it working and installed for other readers. anyways, thanks to all for the help!
  • Host OS : fc12 64bit
  • RAM : 2 GB
  • CPU : AMD x64 4400
  • HDD LAYOUT: LVM encrypted with guest directories on seperate ext4 drive.
Hope this info helps someone else out later on!
