prashni0 LQ Newbie Registered: Dec 2009 Posts: 6 Rep:	problem appending kernel with installed image Im trying to boot the linux kernel under fedora11. I have downloaded the kernel 2.6.33-rc1 and compiled it. I have used the following command: ./i386-softmmu/qemu -hda /home/prashni/f11.img -kernel /home/prashni/linux-2.6.33-rc1/arch/x86/boot/bzImage -append "root=/dev/hda" f11 is an installed image of fedora 11. and it gave: VFS: Cannot open root device "hda" or unknown block(0,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions: Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) How to resolve this error.
