Hi all, I've searched for a solution to this issue to no avail or either get information that doesn't pertain to my situation. So I updated my VMWare and then installed Debian 9. Once I installed vm-tools from apt-get instructions I then updated vm-tools from the message that VMWare told me. Once doing all of that I can't seem to get NumLock working. I turned NumLock to the "ON" position when booting into firmware mode on VMWare then rebooted back into the guest and it's still not working. Any help appreciated, thanks.
would be nice to give more details, for example:
1. what is your host OS (distro, version...)? I think numlock works perfectly.
2. what is your quest OS (distro, os, ...)
3. VMWare version....
4. what did you try, what do you mean by not working? Is this GUI or command line, exactly what's happened?
1. Host OS, version.
Windows 10 Home, on a Lenovo Idea Pad 100-15IBY
2. what is your quest OS (distro, os, ...)
Debian Linux 9.4
3. VMWare version.
VMWare workstation Pro 12
12.5.9 build-7535481
It started after I updated VMWare and did a fresh install of Debian. Prior to this I had no issue's with numlock. After i installed vm-tools I noticed that the number pad wasn't working in the guest so I searched on how to "Power On to Firmware", then i set the NumLock option to ON. After doing that I rebooted into the guest and the number pad is still not working, meaning that when I press a number the cursor doesn't move or it behaves like an arrow key. I've tried a few things such as holding CTRL while pressing NumLock, rebooting the host and guest, nothing seems to solve this issue.
I've resolved the issue, I was simply pressing the wrong key combination. The Function key was the answer(Fn+NumLock). Thanks for taking the time to help.
