Does hypervisor(virtualbox) can own a specific hardware

Hi,

I would like to ask about the hypervisor, in my case im currently using oracle virtualbox, If a certain VM machine can own a single device or card (ex. pci audio mic/speaker card). i know in virtual box features, USB FILTER for usb device but how about the expansion card like audio in/out card.lets just say i want two windows xp vm machine with individual/independent speaker in and out for audio conversation. and not using the host audio in/out

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have not done this with a sound card, but I have with a USB WiFi adaptor. I think the trick will be stopping the host OS from using the USB soundcard, so that the guest OS can use it. That said, when I start a VM and attach the USB device to the guest the device stops showing up in the host so you may not have any issues.
You may also want to disable audio for the guest on Virtualbox.

The passing through of PCI devices to a VM is currently experimental in Virtualbox and described in the manual.
