[SOLVED] Arm box64

Box86 & box64 are wine-like translators for running linux x86 & x86_64 apps in Aarch32 & Aarch64.

Box86 is better developed, but of course box64 is now in demand. Has anyone ever used them, and are they any use? Version numbers are not encouraging (0.2.x), but some programmers are hard on themselves. FreeCAD is around 0.19x, and that works.

There is a thread about something (probably zoom) which works only with box64. You can look for it.
Earlier I used another tool to be able to run intel (x86) code on RPi, but that is not available any more. So it's definitely useful if it works properly.

I was looking for someone who had done a bit with it but evidently the few who have are not on LQ. I'll just have to suck it and see. The nearest equivalent is wine, but this is translating linux(x86_64) library calls to linux (Aarch64) system calls, which looks ok, at first glance.

The x86_64 source code often requires many patches to compile on Aarch64, and in the executables you'll come up against all of that. That's where the fun will be.
