It looks as though the VLE website no longer exists, probably (and this is sheer guesswork) the members moved away/gave up. You could try asking at your local university or library and, if all else fails, canvas the area to see if there's any interest in restarting it.
The other link has not produced any results but thanks for the effort.
Hmmm... They all worked fine for me, except vle.org. However, their contact info page still exists here. Perhaps they've only changed their domain name?
Their contact page links to http://www.vle.org/ which is displaying the CentOS/Apache test page. The Internic whois info is not clear if VLE still controls the domain, although the contact is still in Victoria.
If all else fails, consider HLUG in Houston. Surely, if I used to travel to Wharton for good skydiving (gone now), you can come here occasionally for a good Linux meeting.
We meet on the 2nd & 4th Sat. of the month at 2 pm to nominally 4 pm for presentations. We also have an informal workshop (mini-installfest and hands-on problem solving) every non-holiday Wed. from 6 to 9 pm. We like to go eat & hang out afterwards.
