xfce4/xfwm on debian etch (compositor problem)

Hi,

The xfwm built in compositor is not part of the official xfwm deb, so I apt-get source'd it, and changed the ./configure line in debian/rules to add --enable-compositor. After that, I built the package with
Code:
apt-get build-dep xfwm4
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b
all went well, so I installed the package, which replaced the official one.

However, I don't get drop shadow and transparency still in xfce4 (from official apt repository)

I have the ~/.config/xfce4/transparency file

If I compile the whole XFCE from source, I get the transparency and drop shadow, but I prefer sticking with deb's.

Using a relatively new NVidia card with proprietary driver (composite, renderaccel are both enabled)

Any help is appreciated
