Avidemux for editing & converting
ffmpeg for converting.
LVE/Linux Video Editor editing
These are the main 3.
There are some window apps that run faster under linux with crossover than
they do on Windows XP with same hardware specs
I want to see Palm Desktop itself ported. I have used jpilot and evolution to sync but I am kind of fond of Palm Desktop. Plus it would be nice to see more vendors having linux versions.
personally, I think it would be better if we just got people off developing windows apps and improving the current linux applications. They've all got good potential, well I have something against the speed of openoffice and its' bloatedness, but that's just me. I am impressed by most of the applications in the GNOME office and Koffice suite though.

Thanks for the hint on the Avidemux - brilliant program.
Really wished there was a video capture program a la "Camtasia" style.
Now I do know there just *has* to be .. because one of the XFreee86 Linux video modes is "recording"
so maybe I should search down that route; I got this impression X can be sort of "filmed" and played back with minimal effort.
I found a program like Camtasia
vn2c? (something like that .. )
I haven't followed this thread from start to finish so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I find the following program to be simply awesome on Windows systems:
Convert "is an easy to use unit conversion program that will convert the most popular units of distance, temperature, volume, time, speed, mass, power, density, pressure, energy and many others, including the ability to create custom conversions!"*
Has anyone else used this program? I'd love to see it ported to *nix unless it exists already in some other form and name. I tried running it in WINE but it gave me an error and exited without doing much of anything. It appears the author welcomes suggestions so if you dig this program why not give him the suggestion of porting it to *nix?
*=I added the bold to the quote above

This post was made by furfurdemon666, to page 66 of this thread, post 990. Turn the 99 around and you get 66. And the 0 near the 99 in 990 cancels out one of the 9's so you get the 9 instead of 990 or 99 and that turned around is 6. So you end up with 666 with the 66 thread# and 990 post# Oh, Satan!
