Volume problems

I am running Fedora Core 3.
Everytime i log out my volume control values disappear and reset back down to zero. This happens whether i am using alsamixer or KMix. Someone please tel me how i can persuade it to remember the values?

After you adjust volume settings with alsamixer, run
Code:
alsactl store
to store those settings (in /etc/asound.state).
