UT2004 running VERY! poorly

Hi,

I just installed the ut2004 demo. But it runs so crappy its un playable. The first thing I noticed is that running it in opengl mode, it screws with the graphics. But swtiching it to software rendering fix's that problem. BUT when I play a game, it runs slow, unplayable. Any advice?

I am running a ATI Radeon.

Do you have accelerated drivers?
What does 'glxinfo' show you?
