Upgraded to Ubuntu 14.10 - videos won't play in Firefox

Hi all,

I upgraded from 14.06 to 14.10 and now videos won't play in Firefox. There is just an empty spot in their place. I tried removing and reinstalling both firefox and adobe flash but that didn't help. They work OK in Chromium but I have some work related plugins in firefox that I need to use.

I don't seem to be the only one (http://askubuntu.com/questions/54204...dated-to-14-10) but I haven't seen any solutions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

Most answers involve pepper flash and not adobe.

Might look at other flash players also.

I assume the update also updated ff to current. So I'll have to also ask did it update or did you already have current ff with flash working before upgrade?

Flash, from Adobe, is stuck at version 11.2 in Linux. Theya re not updating it anymore. Flash for everyone else is at version 15. Many video hosting sites no longer support 11.2 anymore. You have 2 options, use Chrome or use sites that support HTML5 video.
